Planning a villa BBQ in Dubrovnik
A holiday barbecue is more enjoyable when nobody has to make five separate shopping trips. Before choosing the meat, check the equipment with your host and make one shared shopping list.

Check what you are allowed to use
Ask whether the barbecue is available to guests, how it works and whether property rules or current fire restrictions apply. Charcoal, gas and electric cooking need different preparation. Your host's instructions and applicable local rules take priority over general blog advice.
Check for tongs, clean serving plates, a knife and the appropriate fuel. Charcoal barbecues belong outdoors, never inside an enclosed space.
Build the menu around your group
Count adults and children, and ask what people do not eat. Choose two or three meats, one substantial side and a salad. This keeps both shopping and cooking easier to manage.
For ten adults with side dishes, see our sample quantity plan. If you are buying bone-in cuts, ask for an adjustment rather than copying the calculation for boneless meat.
Arrange the shopping in advance
For specific steaks or a larger quantity, check availability ahead of time. Include your date, guest count, product list and cutting preferences. Do not build the dinner around an unconfirmed product photo.
If you need delivery, ask whether it is available for your address rather than assuming it is included. Agree availability, charges and timing before building your evening around it.
Share the jobs
Let one person concentrate on the meat while another organises the table and sides. Keep raw food separate from cooked food and leave enough working space. More people gathered around the grill do not necessarily make cooking faster.
